I'm new to the Samsung ecosystem, and noticed that I have Samsung Notes preinstalled on my Note8. Someone posted that a new version of S Note came out, so I downloaded that, but they don't seem to be the same library or database of notes. Which one is the real newer one, or the recommended one? Also, I switched from iCloud to Google when I went from iOS to Android, I've been using Google Keep, which I was glad to see a Google Chrome app that allows me to access them on my Mac. If I were to move again from Google to Samsung, how do I access my Samsung Notes from a Mac? Download this app from Microsoft Store for Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows 10 Team (Surface Hub), HoloLens. See screenshots, read the latest. Also, SyncMate will sync any Android 4.x - 8.x device with your Mac! Originally Answered: Is there a way to sync Samsung Notes (specifically Galaxy S9) with. S-Note was the note taking option used on Note phones prior to the Note7. Samsung Notes was the S-Note replacement that came out starting with the Note7. However, although Samsung Notes was meant to be a replacement, those two were way too different. Samsung Notes is a collection of notes. It's comparable to apps like Google Keep. Essentially, it's a collection of items that are made up of Text, Writing, Drawing, Images, and Sound. However, none of those items could overlap with each other. So you essentially have a list of individual items. So it's good if you want to make a collection of short notes, drawings, and etc. However, it's a far cry from S-Note, due to how powerful S-Note is. Unlike Samsung Notes, S-Note isn't similar to Google Keep at all. ![]() You can see it as a competitor to OneNote. It's a notebook, where each page can store any number of text, writing, drawings, and images. All of those options can be overlapped with each other, and there's even options to push certain items in front or behind other items. Here's a video of S-Note prior to Note7 days: So theoretically, they're two separate types of apps. One targeting simple note taking and collecting of said notes. The other targeting users that require heavy and detailed writing use. Personally, I use Samsung Notes only for Screen-Off Memos and as a scrapbook of images. On the other hand, I use S-Note for work-related purposes from lots of writing to drawing out UI designs. Only on S-Note could I do things such as type out some text, then draw a circle around said text. Then draw arrows towards an inserted image. Sadly, Samsung saw the need to replace S-Note with Samsung Notes, so Samsung Notes can read the database for S-Note. But this is purely so you can import in old S-Note files. You can't import Samsung Notes data into S-Note. As for the S-Note update. What people are interested in is Action Memo, which was a feature of S-Note. Action Memo was this very useful notepad. Here's a brief description of it. Essentially, it was useful due to it's Link to Action feature. Sadly, the newest update for S-Note that was released completely removed all support for Action Memo, so it's recommended to use an earlier version. There was a PC version of S-Note but I believe it no longer works. Unsure about Mac support. As far as I know, the apk in that link is the last version that supports Action Memo. Don't forget to turn off Auto-Update on both Play Store and Galaxy Apps. There's really no way to vote for the feature back, since Samsung doesn't offer such an option. Your available options seems to be to: • 1star ratings on Play Store and Galaxy Apps requesting for Action Memo back. • Contact them through their listed email: and hope they'll actually consider it. • Start up a petition. But not much hopes with this one. Honestly, I'm not sure why they purposely removed Action Memo from S-Note without making it sound too much like a conspiracy theory on making users use Samsung Notes more. Though, my best guess, is that it's due to the future direction of SNote. Originally, Action Memo existed inside SNote because SNote was the note-taking app of choice for Note phones, therefore they made Action Memo for users to quickly add notes. But now, SNote lost it's position, so Samsung wanted to keep it purely as something like a Notebook writing app. So they removed Action Memo since it didn't fit into the design of the idea. I mean, it's a great feature, but the way it's implemented didn't fit with the rest of the app, especially when S-Note isn't being used to store notes anymore. So that's my best guess. I'm hoping that the reason they removed it is so they can create a new separate Action Memo app that's built with notes in mind, or it's because they wanted to integrate Action Memo into Samsung Notes, since Samsung Notes has simple note creation as a fundamental feature.
